FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Portage Path Behavioral Health will enhance its Expressive Therapy group thanks to a generous $5,000 gift from PNC Bank. Expressive Therapy is a form of psychotherapy that uses creative processes, such as painting, drawing, music, writing, dance, and drama, to improve self-awareness, and foster healing. Through these mediums, clients can explore and express their emotions.
Expressive Therapy is used to treat mental health conditions such as trauma, grief, and depression. According to the American Art Therapy Association, “60% of adults agree that the arts have helped them cope with mental or emotional distress.”
Expressive therapists are trained to guide our clients through the creative process in a supportive and nonjudgmental environment. They also integrate elements of psychology and counseling to help clients reduce anxiety, learn healthy coping skills, increase emotional resilience, and enhance their overall mental well-being.
