About Mental Health

According to figures from the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), about 1 in 5 (18.5%) adults in the U.S. experience mental illness in a given year. Of the 20.2 million adults in the U.S. who experience a substance use disorder, about half also have a co-occurring mental illness. Additionally, about 1 in 25 (4.2%) adults in the U.S. experience a serious mental illness that significantly interferes with one or more major life activities.

More unfortunate is that nearly 60% of adults with a mental illness didn’t receive mental health services in the previous year. When you seek help at Portage Path Behavioral Health, you are helping to reduce that number and alleviate the stigma of seeking treatment.

Treatment works! Regardless of the symptoms and stressors, Portage Path’s multidisciplinary team approach uses individualized evidence based treatment designed to best suit the needs of the client, pinpoint targeted symptoms and desired outcomes, and move them along the path of recovery. By treating mental illness and substance use disorders concurrently, Portage Path has been an innovator in dual diagnosis treatment – treatment addressing both mental illness and substance use disorders, which leads to greater symptom stability and increased functioning for our clients.
