Maternal Opioid Mental Health Support (MOMS) Clinic

Portage Path Behavioral Health is excited to introduce our new Maternal Opioid Mental Health Support (MOMS) Clinic, a specialized program dedicated to supporting expectant mothers facing the challenges of substance abuse and/or mental health illnesses.

Located at our Akron Clinic, the MOMS Clinic is specifically designed to provide comprehensive, compassionate care to women with high-risk pregnancies. The program is overseen by our Medical Director, Dr. Raman Krimpuri, MD, who is Board Certified in Psychiatry, Addiction, and Bariatric Medicine, along with a team of Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners with specialized training in maternal medicine.

Key Features of the MOMS Clinic:

  • Fast Access to Care: Clients are scheduled for a psychiatric evaluation within two business days of referral.
  • Holistic Support Services:
    • Immediate connection with an individual counselor, case management, and optional peer support.
    • Individual therapy provided by a licensed counselor.
    • Case management addressing housing, clothing, access to social services, and more.
    • Peer support offering one-on-one guidance from individuals with lived experience navigating substance use during pregnancy.
  • Regular Psychiatric Appointments: Clients will have weekly sessions with their psychiatric provider.
  • Collaboration with Referring Providers: Weekly updates on client progress will be shared to ensure seamless coordination of care.
