Events
Portage Path Behavioral Health not only partners with others to make our communities stronger, we also hold events that inform, engage and support our mission.
Would you or your organization like to donate or get involved in Portage Path Behavioral Health events? Talk to us. Do you lead a group or business interested in learning more? Portage Path professionals are available to speak at your events to explain mental illness, family services and what we do to give hope.
KJ’s 5k for Mental Health and Animal Rescue
Portage Path’s one and only annual fundraiser is KJ’s 5k, which is always held on the morning of the first Saturday of October. The event was started in 2017 by KJ’s mom, Shari Kennedy, and co-worker Chris Campos. Because KJ loved animals and loved running, a 5k devoted to preventing suicide and saving animals seemed an ideal way to honor KJ’s memory while raising awareness and increasing resources available to fight mental illness and suicide. Together, Shari and Chris approached Portage Path to partner for the 5k specifically because we provide welcoming, professional care for anyone, regardless of ability to pay. You can register for this year’s 5k, which will be held on October 2, 2021, here.
Pathfinder: News about the Path to Recovery
Portage Path invites the community to Pathfinder several times per year as a way to educate the community about services available. These are non-fundraising networking and information sessions with complimentary appetizers and drinks followed by a short presentation about a specific topic. Pathfinder is always held from 4:45 pm to 5:45 pm at Portage Path’s main location, 340 South Broadway Street, Akron, Ohio 44308.
For 2021, Pathfinder events are expected to be virtual. Expected dates are:
- February 3, 2021
- March 3, 2021
Additional Pathfinder dates will be added throughout the year.
