KJ’s 5k for Mental Health and Animal Rescue
Portage Path’s one and only annual fundraiser is KJ’s 5k, which is always held on the morning of the first Saturday of October. The event was started in 2017 by KJ’s mom, Shari Kennedy, and co-worker Chris Campos. Because KJ loved animals and loved running, a 5k devoted to preventing suicide and saving animals seemed an ideal way to honor KJ’s memory while raising awareness and increasing resources available to fight mental illness and suicide. Together, Shari and Chris approached Portage Path to partner for the 5k specifically because we provide welcoming, professional care for anyone, regardless of ability to pay. You can register for this year’s 5k, which will be held on October 3, 2020, here.
