PPBH’s Chivonna Childs, Ph.D. Talks Depression with Beacon Journal, Joining Betty Lin-Fisher for Facebook Live

Portage Path psychologist, Chivonna Childs, Ph.D.  sat down with Betty Lin-Fisher from the Akron Beacon Journal to discuss Depression, what it is and isn’t, and what we can do about it. In the Healthy Actions piece, Chivonna stresses that is it okay to be sad, and that sadness is different than clinical depression.

She also outlines some ways to help cope and get through depression such as mindfulness meditation, listening to empowering music, and confiding in those around you. Resources such as the PPBH Support Hotline, the National Suicide Prevention Hotline and PPBH Psychiatric Emergency Services are listed.
