PPBH Holds First Pathfinder Event to Educate Public on Dual Diagnosis Program

On Wednesday, May 23rd, Portage Path Behavioral Health held its first educational event for community leaders, business owners, and interested public.  All gathered at Portage Path Behavioral Health for the first event of its kind, to be offered quarterly highlighting different aspects of Portage Path’s services. Pathfinder: News about the Road to Recovery is a small event, which encourages attendees to mingle, network and learn about a specific service or program that is offered at Portage Path through talks, videos and tours.

This first Pathfinder highlighted Portage Path’s new programs which are designed to treat mental illness and substance use disorders at the same time.  The new programs include three groups for the treatment of these co-occurring disorders. A nine-minute video, which was creates with the support of Infiniti of Akron, was shown to illustrate the new programs and their positive impact on patients.  This video was shown in a group treatment room during the event along with some words from President Tracy D. Yaeger, Ph.D., Crossroads Coordinator Matt Ragon, LPCC, LICDC,

Crossroads clinician Matt Montagner, LSW and new Admissions Coordinator Kevin Fasig, LPCC-S, LICDC. Food and beverages were enjoyed while community members mingled with staff, asked questions, and enjoyed client art throughout the room.

The next Pathfinder is set to take place in August and will focus on Pathways, an innovative partial hospitalization program. You can learn more about Portage Path’s Dual Diagnosis program and view the Crossroads video by visiting www.portagepath.org/beharioral-health/dual-diagnosis
