Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner – Fellowship

The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Fellowship at Portage Path Behavioral Health, is a one year intensive program in Community Mental Health that builds confidence and competence in practitioners. This program is designed for newly licensed/graduated Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners to allow for further enhance their clinical training.

Rotations include outpatient, emergency evaluations, and crisis stabilization. In close coordination with clinicians on staff, NP Fellows are mentored individually with peer and group supervision in areas of weekly didactic sessions and ongoing professional development.

This position is essential in supporting our mission of delivering high-quality mental health services to the community.

The Nurse Practitioner Fellowship is a full-time, salaried position and benefit eligible.

Responsibilities you will learn:

• Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and assessments for clients.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on client needs.
• Prescribe and manage psychiatric medications as part of treatment.
• Provide ongoing therapy and support to clients in recovery.
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure holistic care.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client progress and treatment outcomes.
• Participate in case management and crisis intervention as needed.
• Engage in community outreach to promote mental health awareness.

Qualifications

• Masters Degree or DNP or have received their state certification as a PMHNP in the state of Ohio.
• Experience in mental health settings preferred, particularly with low-income populations.
• Understanding of psychiatric medication management and therapy techniques.
• Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with clients and team members.
• Ability to work independently while also being a team player.
• Commitment to providing compassionate, client-centered care, while pursuing a career in community mental health.
