Become An Advocate For Mental Health

Thursday, January 14th, 2010

Whether you are currently in treatment, were previously in treatment, have a friend or family member in treatment, or just care about mental health care, consider getting involved in advocacy.

By becoming involved, you can:

  • help erase remaining stigma surrounding mental health
  • help others learn from your experiences
  • suggest improvements or changes
  • lobby your representatives on mental health issues
  • participate in fun events

Here are some websites to check out:

NAMI of Summit County

Mental Health America of Summit County

Choices Social Center

If you become involved, be sure to tell them how Portage Path (or any other mental health provider) has helped you, and mention the specific programs or services you found particularly useful.
